No Enemy But Time
No Enemy But Time
The innocent and the beautiful have no enemy but time.
—William Butler Yeats
We are the spoils of an amazingly complicated hardship of the past. We did it. The human race has been won. If you're alive, you win.
We are living in the age that every generation before us has wanted to be in.
We are the envy of every civilization before us.
We live in the times when we can do medical miracles,
when we understand the demons of mental illness,
when we can cure the blind, leprosy
when engineering is nearly as massive as we can comprehend,
when global poverty has severely shrunken,
when almost everyone has access to a screen,
when biology and DNA have given up their secrets,
and physics is closing in on itself.
We've brought 4.54 billion years of questions to its knees.
90% of all the scientists who ever lived – are alive TODAY.
We are rapidly accruing knowledge in every little, obscure fact of the universe.
For every Einstein, there are a thousand Einsteins in science today.
We are braver and brighter than ever. Science cowers before us.
Life can only be understood backwards, but it must be lived forwards.
― Søren Kierkegaard
We are the product of the curiosity of those who dared dream of what life in 2023 would be like.
We are the answer to science fiction films. This IS Tomorrow-land.
We are the implausibility of people who never thought mankind would fly.
We are the answer to those who bet living in the future would be significantly better.
We can manipulate the universe. We have made electricity come alive in the most amazing of ways.
If electricity was invented today, there is no environmental way feasible that we'd have telephone poles. This is the discrepancy of time we must take into consideration when judging the past. It was different then.
We are the world predicted in the Bible, Qur’an, Bhagavad Gita, etc. Even if you don’t believe in their preaching, this may be the future they envisioned.
We have invented new materials harder than diamond, space tools, systems of government, new ways to re-use, new lightbulbs, new economic philosophies, new synthetics, new music, new modes of flight, new ways to save lives, new quantum particles, new ways to harness electricity, new cars, new foods, and so on. And we’re just getting started. Wait until tomorrow.
We have survived the trauma of a global pandemic. We have witnessed a global catastrophic tsunami. We have seen "planet-killer" meteors whizz by us. We have analyzed volcanoes, bugs, supernovae, obesity, wine, and baldness.
I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones.
― Albert Einstein
We have only been to the moon 12 times. Only 24 humans have walked on it, all men. With 90% of all scientists to have ever lived being alive today, a woman should be sent to the moon asap at any cost.
There has been an excessive social disruption of order since the internet could walk. We live in a hollow world. We know everything happening can’t be true. Not all of it. Cognitive dissonance is the binding of true and false. You poke the government every time you 'accept cookies'. The internet was invented in 1969 by the FBI (DoD). If you watch movies, you'll know the FBI never lets something escape them. Any encryption can be unlocked by a child. The government holds the keys to every IP address.
The phones we're using would have been witchcraft 25 years ago. Yet we're mysteriously not bothered by this. This proves that the frog won't leap out when the water is boiling if the heat is turned up discreetly.
We trust sources we never would have trusted. We denounce medical professionals based on our own “studies”. Our subjective selves are paramount, especially the color of our hair, the presence of piercings, and with whom we wish to share an orgasm. Sex is societal, full-frontal.
Time has killed our concepts of sustaining innocence and beauty. Honor and courage are terminologies that lay in tatters. Every hero has had their stature scrutinized. Statues are toppled, and reputations are torn. Tiny discrepancies are vacant lots where once stood families and friendships.
We call our entire history one large system of repression. We are judging the dead. Those in the womb are guilty; so too those not even conceived yet. We have granted society the status of "victim." We have adults who choose, by law, to remain children.
If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face—forever.
― George Orwell, 1984
We’ve come a long way in the fog of progress.
We all have the blood of time on our hands. No one makes it to 2023 unscathed. To deny that is to erase your ancestor's humanity. We are the spoils of an amazingly complicated hardship of a past. We did it. The human race has been won. If you are alive, you win.
